Shelley, Office Manager
Shelley has been at Herkert Family Eye Care in some capacity since it opened in 1998. After a rewarding career in nursing, she now is our office manager and optician. Shelley enjoys the art of choosing frames, the science of lenses and optics, and the time spent meeting new patients and catching up with current patients. When not at the office, she enjoys running, camping, and hanging with her family. Her greatest accomplishment is being a mom.

Alexis is an optician at Herkert Family Eye Care. Although she has no background in eye care, she is excited to work with a team who cares so much about their patients. She has always loved getting to meet and know different people and work alongside passionate individuals. Alexis is an alum of the University of Indianapolis Department of Theatre and is still active in the Indianapolis theatre community. When not working, she spends her time reading, watching movies, or playing with her furry friends, Roddy and Chigger.

Taylor is an Optician at Herkert Family Eye Care. She graduated from Kaplan College as a Certified Medical Assistant in 2010. She has been working in optical since 2012. She joined Herkert Family Eye Care in hopes to learn and grow with the practice. She is currently working towards becoming ABO Certified. Taylor enjoys working hands on with patients and getting to know them on a personal level. In Taylor’s spare time she enjoys riding motorcycles with friends. Taylor also enjoys spending quality time with her son, going to the race track, riding four-wheelers, and going to sporting events.

LORNA, Patient care coordinator
Lorna Thomas is originally from the Philippines and came to the United States in 1991. She has a bachelor’s degree in Agroforestry and worked for the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in the Philippines where she met her husband who was a Peace Corps Volunteer.
After coming to the U.S. she and her husband moved to Indianapolis. Lorna then worked for the I.U. Foundation and commuted back and forth to Bloomington for years. She was very happy to begin working for the HFEC in January of 2016.
She is the newest Patient Care Coordinator on the HFEC team. She loves being around people and enjoys working with patients to help meet their needs. She is very happy to help serve many local friends and people from her church community. She knows no strangers.
Her hobbies include cooking, baking and flower gardening. Orchids are blooming in her home year round. She also loved and raised dachshunds in her home for many years. Lorna and her husband have worked diligently for many years to fund the college educations of many nieces and nephews in the Philippines.

ANGIE, PATIENT CARE COORDINATOR
Angie is one of the friendly faces greeting you at Herkert Family Eye Care. She is a life-long South Side resident and graduated from Marian University. After 12 years in the Pharmaceutical industry, she worked as a full time Mom and part time as a lunch lady at St. Mark School. She is excited to be working with the Herkert family providing quality eye care. Angie, her husband, and two children enjoy traveling, swimming, and fishing.
