Brandi has been a technician at Herkert Family Eye Care since May 2017. After working many years in retail, eye care has been a completely new environment for her. She has gained a certification in wedding planning from Ashworth College and is now studying to be a surgical technologist. Brandi is an avid concert-goer and enjoys making home décor and hanging out with friends in her free time. At the end of the day, she loves coming home to her boyfriend and two cats, Iris and Luna.

Taylor is an optician at Herkert Family Eye Care. She graduated from Kaplan College as a Certified Medical Assistant in 2010. She has been working in optical since 2012. She joined Herkert Family Eye Care in hopes to learn and grow with the practice. She is currently working towards becoming ABO Certified. Taylor enjoys working hands on with patients and getting to know them on a personal level. In Taylor’s spare time she enjoys riding motorcycles with friends. Taylor also enjoys spending quality time with her son, going to the race track, riding four-wheelers, and going to sporting events.

Mia is an optometric technician at Herkert Family Eye Care. Mia graduated from Kaplan College in 2009 as a Medical Assistant. She has always loved the medical field. She has previously been with the staff in 2010. After several years and many adventurous experiences in life, she decided to rejoin the team! She enjoys learning about all the new technology and gadgets in the office since she was previously here. One of her many goals in life is to obtain her BSN in Nursing and become a NICU nurse. When she is not working, Mia is a full-time mom to her toddler twin girls. She also enjoys listening to music, cooking, and exercising.

Shelley has been at Herkert Family Eye Care in some capacity since it opened in 1998. After a rewarding career in nursing, she now is our office manager and optician. Shelley enjoys the art of choosing frames, the science of lenses and optics, and the time spent meeting new patients and catching up with current patients. When not at the office, she enjoys running, camping, and hanging with her family. Her greatest accomplishment is being a mom.

After several years as a stay at home mom time, Aimee decided join Herkert Family Eye Care as an optometric technician and learn as much as possible about the eye and to care for patients in a new way. She spent 18 years in the dental field before staying home full time with her 3 children. She and her family enjoy traveling throughout the country for sight seeing adventures.

Lorna is originally from the Philippines and came to the United States in 1991. After coming to the U.S. she and her husband Tim, who she met in the Peace Corps, moved to Indianapolis. She was very happy to begin working as a patient care coordinator for HFEC in January of 2016. She loves being around people and enjoys working with patients to help meet their needs. She is very happy to help serve many local friends and people from her church community. She knows no strangers.
Her hobbies include cooking, baking and flower gardening. Orchids are blooming in her home year round. Lorna and her husband have worked diligently for many years to fund the college educations of many nieces and nephews in the Philippines.

Devyn is one of our technicians. As a technician, she does preliminary testing, special testing and scribing during the exams. Devyn graduated from DePauw University in May 2017 with a Public Health major and a Spanish minor. While at DePauw, Devyn served as the President of the Pi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, a member of the DePauw Student Government allocations board, a First-Year Mentor, and a presidential ambassador. She will be attending IU School of Optometry beginning in the fall of 2018. She wants to become an optometrist to help other people like her who struggle with diabetes. She joined the HFEC team because of the close-knit family environment. The staff is constantly encouraging her to pursue all her dreams despite any barriers she may face.

Angie is one of the friendly faces greeting you at Herkert Family Eye Care. She is a life-long South Side resident and graduated from Marian University. After 12 years in the Pharmaceutical industry, she worked as a full time Mom and part time as a lunch lady at St. Mark School. She is excited to be working with the Herkert family providing quality eye care. Angie, her husband, and two children enjoy traveling, swimming, and fishing.

Alexis is an optician at Herkert Family Eye Care. She has always loved getting to meet and know different people and work alongside passionate individuals. One of her goals for 2018 is to obtain her American Board of Opticianry certification. Alexis is an alum of the University of Indianapolis Department of Theatre and on occasion you will find her working as a stage manager or costume designer in the theatre community. When not working, she spends her time reading, crafting, watching movies with her husband, and spending time with her cat, Chigger and dog, Roddy.
